One problem that search engine spiders have is trying to index content that isn't there!! There's nothing better than having huge amounts of text to index. Spiders usually can't get enough (although there is a limit to how much a search engine spider will index to stop search engine databases from growing insanely large), they need information to place your website into a category or theme.
It is advised to have around about 250 words on your page as a minimum. As search engines have continuously evolved their algorithms, they are starting to refine them to produce quality results for the people searching for webpages. One way that they have started to do this is to analyse the content within the body of your pages. There are various variables that search engines will now find important in ranking your page (check the search engine variables page for more information about this).
Moral for today, put content on your page. When I mean content, I mean having text on your page. Not in a picture, or flash presentation, but between the <body> and </body> tags. Make sure that all your information is relevant to the topic that you are interested in or focused on. This will add relevancy to your site and also help generate a theme for your page.
